Clariant has developed a new range of colorants for PVC.Its Telasperse PVC range comprisesseven colours – one blue, three reds and three yellows – as well as two blacks and a white. More colours will be added in the near future. Although developed for plasticised PVC, the grades can also be used in some rigid PVC formulations.

The products are free-flowing, dust-free powder pigment prepara- tions, fully dispersed with 40-50% organic pigment. They can also be supplied in pellet form. They are based on a PVC that contains a non-phthalate plasticiser, and uses lead-free stabilisation.

“With Telasperse PVC pigment preparations, we are opening up new opportunities for PVC compounders and customers,” said Philippe Lazerme, head of strategic marketing plastics in the pigments division. The preparations are suitable for several types of product, including profiles and cables.

Stefan Wannemacher, head of technical marketing in the pigments division, added: “The new pigment preparations keep processing costs low with their ease of incorporation into PVC and their high pigment concentration, while their dust-free form makes them safe to process.”
